This quaint little espresso bar packs the punch when delivering the caffeine hit.
Everyone has their 'spot' and I was extremely happy to find out that Hopper Coffee had opened up down the street from my office. Very quickly after meeting the owners, did I start coming there nearly every day! I always had such a great experience, all the staff were great and the coffee was perfect nearly every time. When they added their food menu, I quickly became addicted to their Avocado toast and their Bostok, which is the sugar-dusted almond sponge cake of your dreams. I'm pretty sure I never got a picture of one because I always ate them so fast.
As for the coffee itself, the balance of boldness and acidity in the espresso is always well controlled and very rarely over-extracted. Can definitely rely on these guys for your daily cup.
The avocado toast is easily one of the best I've had in Toronto. Made on a big crunchy slab of Sourdough, cut and toasted to order, completely smothered in fresh avocado, with some olive oil and chili flakes (and other secret stuff I'm not revealing!) makes for a very enjoyable, mostly healthy morning pick me up. I genuinely crave this avocado toast almost every day.
Final Thoughts
Overall Hopper Coffee is easily a recommendable spot for coffee in the Kensington Market. I will definitely be continuing to go here as the place for my daily coffee at work!
